bk_radio_simulator

Quick start for the BK radio simulator.

Power On

Click the volume button to power on the radio. The display shows SQF CH4. The scan (SCN) and priority (PRI) mode buttons are active. After a few moments a radio transmission begins.

Volume and Channel knobs

To increase the volume, grab the slider and move it to the right or drag the mouse in a rotating motion on the volume button or scroll the mouse wheel while hovering the mouse over the volume button.

Similarly to change channels, click the left or right button underneath the channel knob or drag with the mouse or scroll the mouse wheel while hovering over the channel button.

Transmit

Press and hold the mouse button on the “PTT” key on the handset. The transmit indicator glows red in the upper left corner of the display.

Channel scanning

When the SCN button is depressed the radio checks for signals on channels in the preset scan list, as well as the channel selected by the Channel Selector knob. When a signal is detected, scanning stops and the message is received. The received channel is displayed in place of the transmit channel. Once the signal ends, the radio continues to monitor the channel for the preset scan delay time before it resumes scanning.

View the scan list

To see whether a particular channel is currently on the scan list, click the scan function button to disable the scan function. Then the scan function will be disabled. Use the channel selector knob to turn to the desired channel. SCN will appear illuminated in the display if it’s on the scan list.

Update the scan list

To add a channel to the scan list, make sure the radio is not in scan mode. Rotate the channel selector knob to the desired channel. Click enter (ENT) on the handset keypad. The SCN will appear illuminated, indicating that channel is now on the scan list.

To remove a channel from the scan list, click clear (CLR) on the handset keypad. The SCN LED will go out.

When done, rotate the channel selector back to the home channel and click the SCN button to return to scan mode.

Priority Scan

Priority Scan enables the radio to receive on any channel while monitoring for a message on the designated priority channel. Priority Scan operates only while the radio is not transmitting and can be used in combination with scan operation. Press the PRI button to start or stop priority scanning. When Priority Scan is on, the PR led illuminates, and the display flashes SCN. If a message is received on a priority channel, the Priority indicator illuminates, and the radio receiver locks onto that channel for the duration of the transmission.

Power Off

Power off the radio by clicking the volume button.
